Fort Lauderdale is known as the "Venice of America" due to its expansive and intricate canal system. The city is a popular tourist destination and major yachting center. It is home to one of the world's largest boat shows and offers 23 miles of white-sand beaches. The downtown area, especially around Las Olas Boulevard, has seen dramatic growth in the past decade, and now hosts many new hotels and high-rise condominium developments.
