Home prices in South Florida rose in January, compared to a year earlier. The number of available home listings also increased, as more sellers decided to take advantage of the rejuvenated real estate market.
The median price of an existing single-family home in Broward County jumped 16 percent in January, compared to the previous year. The median price of a home in Palm Beach County rose 17 percent in the same time period.
Home listings in both counties were also up, compared to January 2013. The number of home listings in Palm Beach County increased 7 percent, while the number of available homes in Broward County jumped 18 percent. The increase in the number of homes for sale in South Florida is a welcome change for buyers.
