March 28, 2014
Home prices in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties increased 16.5 percent in January, compared to January 2013. Home prices also increased on a month-to-month basis. The South Florida area was one of only 7 metropolitan areas to post price increases from December 2013 to January 2014. The month-to-month gain in Miami was .7 percent, the second largest increase in the country.
In January, nationwide home prices cooled for the third straight month due to particularly brutal winter weather. South Florida obviously did not encounter that problem. At one point, Florida was the only state without any snow.
